Alopex Chirps is a Rust library that brings node discovery, membership, messaging, and consensus together for distributed systems. It is a related product of Alopex DB and carries Alopex DB’s node-to-node communication.
Main features
- Discovery and joining. Join a cluster from a list of seeds, with no DNS.
- Membership. SWIM-style gossip tracks which nodes are alive, quickly.
- Messaging. Send to a specific node, broadcast to everyone, or subscribe to incoming messages.
- Events. Receive node joins and departures as events.
- Transport and authentication. QUIC for transport, with mutual TLS (mTLS) to authenticate nodes to each other.
- Raft. Raft consensus, including support for multiple Raft groups.
- File transfer. Transfer files as well.
